Let me begin by saying thank you. Thank you for taking the time to read our update and then praying for us. Thank you for “holding the ropes” for us to live and serve Christ in Moldova.
June was full of trips to the capital city (Chișinău) for medical needs and for Daniel’s residency permit application. Both Daniel and Ana had their tonsils and adenoids removed on July 7th with no complications.
Also in July, we had three weeks of VBS. We ran one week at our house, one week in Soroca, and one week in Bulboci. We averaged 20 the first week, 8 the second, and 25 the last. The children seemed to listen better this year than in the past. Please pray for us as we contact parents and offer to meet with them to share the Gospel.
Eli, the missionary in Visoca, asked me to preach the Gospel to kids and parents for a VBS in her village. There were over 50 that were in attendance. They listened well and the Seed was planted. Eli still brings a group from Visoca to our Sunday services; Jacob and I lead a midweek Bible study there; and I am discipling Victor and Ghena who trusted Christ and were baptized in the past year. Pray for the Gospel to continue to spread in Visoca, not just through us, but also through the new believers in the village.
Last October, we mentioned a young gypsy lady (Maia) who Stephanie led to Christ. A lot has happened since then. We continue to keep in touch and she continues to listen to her audio Bible since she cannot read. She moved to the Russian-backed breakaway part of Moldova called Transnistria in order to be where her children are. Despite serious health problems already, she was working in order to get custody of her children back from the state. While working, she had gotten a cut in her leg that turned into an infection and then gangrene. This past week, the doctors there amputated her leg up to the knee. She has no family other than her own children, creating an even more dire situation. By God’s providence, we received a generous gift anonymously that allowed Maia to pay for this life-saving operation. Though the giver knew nothing of this need, God did. Please pray for Maia to trust the Lord and for His provisions during this even more difficult time of her life.
Our oldest son, Caleb, is studying through Pioneer Bible Institute with a pastor from America via internet and being discipled and trained while here in Moldova. His love for Christ continues to grow and his desire to encourage others to follow Christ. Multiple days a week, he takes the electric scooter into town to witness to teens. He is currently preaching through the book of James on Sunday mornings and receiving instruction on sermon prep, Romanian, and communication. Please pray for Caleb as he continues his ministry training.
In order to have income, Caleb started doing work with graphic design and web-design for churches and missionaries. If you need this kind of work done with quality and a competitive price, I can recommend him. Our publications for ministry here went from okay to great due to him. Thank you for your prayer and support.
